African Fintech Receives Bezos’ Backing
- Chipper Cash, a startup offering P2P payment services in 7 countries in Africa, raised $30 million in its Series B funding round.
- The company also plans to run a fee-based payment product for merchants, and has over 3 million users on its platform.
Vaccines Continue to Progress
AstraZeneca has joined Moderna and Pfizer in releasing its initial vaccine results. The AstraZeneca vaccine was shown to be over 70% effective. Countries are now racing to secure these vaccines, with the E.U. signing contracts with 6 companies to acquire over 1 billion doses once they are available.
